This is a rewarding volunteering opportunity within our Older Peoples Mental Health Services
We are looking for friendly, approachable and enthusiastic individuals who are able to give their time. Whether you want to gain experience, improve your job prospects or just want to give some of your time to help others, volunteering could be for you!
Aspects of this role may include:
- Help preparing and clearing dining areas by:
- Wiping and setting tables/meal trays
- Help serve/distribute meals
- Assist staff who are feeding patients by:
- Getting fresh food, cutlery, crockery as directed
- Replenishing drinks
- Support identified patients ONLY at mealtimes by:
- Opening packages
- Cutting up food
- Replenishing drinks
- Reporting to staff re patients intake
- Encouraging patients to eat
Undertake Core and Essential Skills Training (CEST) and any other training relevant to the role.
This volunteer role requires a criminal records check, a DBS, this is free of charge for volunteers.
Along with a DBS check, the recruitment process for this role will include 2 professional references and a health screen.
You will also undertake a training induction as well as on-going training which is essential to the role.
No previous experience is required for this role; a caring approach and good interpersonal skills are far more important.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
